In early August, Matt's mom, Nancy visited for 4 days. During this time we went to Casa Bonita, a Mexican restaurant with a twist, where they have divers jumping/diving from various positions down into a cove-like 30 foot-deep pool below. We also hung out at Hometown Days, a big celebration the town of Strasburg puts on every year to commemorate when the east railroad met the west railroad. That happened here in little, Strasburg, CO. Crafts, food, hayrides--it was fun. Hot, but fun. We also enjoyed Church outside that Sunday, where a number of churches in town got together and put on a joint service on the grounds of the museum next door to our church. Then we drove down to Colorado Springs where we toured Cave of the Winds. This was so awesome! It was in the 80s or higher outside, while in the cave it was a cool 52 degrees. On our way home we stopped in Garden of the Gods where we got some fun pictures of the red rocks at dusk. That Sunday night we got a freak hail storm. Nancy and I were startled awake around 1:30 am or so, because the hail had gotten so loud, I couldn't stay in bed. It sounded like golf balls were hitting the window at the head of our bed. Abby and Matt slept right through it. I took some pics while Nancy and I waited out the hail, though. The next evening Nancy flew home. we had a great time with her. Here are some pics.
The crazy hail storm that woke us up in the middle of the night
The hail was piling up at the down spouts
It also piled up on the side of our back porch
